In a few days, the prime minister will witness the true depth of people's wrath, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said on Saturday.

"You [Sheikh Hasina] may think that everyone is silent, but there is grief in the hearts of people. When this pain turns into a volcanic eruption, your illegitimate government will burn to ashes," Rizvi said.

He made these remarks as the chief guest at a doa mahfil, held for the recovery of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. The event was organised by the Dhaka-based Feni Jilla Jatiyatabadi Parishad at the BNP office in Nayapaltan.

"Khaleda Zia never bowed down to injustice, never fled the country, but Sheikh Hasina did. She told Mainuddin and Fakhruddin that since Khaleda Zia is in the country, she would stay here too. Later, she assumed power by making a masterplan with them. Subsequently, the scheme to gradually erode our sovereignty began," Rizvi added.

Rizvi pointed out that Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader admitting behind-the-scenes negotiations proves that the people of the country do not stand with their cause.

"They [Awami League] are attempting to manage those who criticise them for undermining democracy, for their misrule, and for the cases of enforced disappearance. However, not everyone can be managed," said Rizvi.
