BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has claimed that Bangladesh is being used as a battleground for superpowers because of the ruling Awami League.
He made this comment at the 45th founding anniversary procession of Jatiyatabadi Mahila Dal at Nayapaltan in the capital on Friday (September 8).
Mirza Fakhrul said, 'Now the most alarming thing, which we can see - the statement made by the foreign minister of Russia, one thing has become very clear that today Bangladesh is being used as a battleground for the status of big powers. It will create a very dire situation. Awami League government is responsible for this. They have created this situation by speaking irresponsibly like inconsiderate people.
The Secretary General of BNP said, 'Elections are being talked about. It has been proved that it is not possible to have a fair election under Awami League. BNP wants elections, but not under this government. Therefore, the government should resign and hand over power to a neutral government.
On the occasion of the 45th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Women's Party, a procession took place in front of the BNP's central office in Nayapaltan. Mahila Dal president Afroza Abbas and other leaders and workers participated in it.
