BNP standing committee member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain has been diagnosed with a brain tumour.

The brain tumour was detected as the BNP leader underwent different medical tests at the National University Hospital in Singapore, his younger son Khandaker Maruf Hossain said today.

"We got the test reports that suggested a brain tumour. Physicians said a sphenoid wing meningiomas was detected on the outside of his brain," Maruf said.

Considering the age, he said, doctors have decided to remove the tumour through upfront radio therapy.

Maruf, who along with is mother Bilkis Akhter Hossain has been staying with Mosharraf in Singapore, urged the country's people and the leaders and activists of BNP to pray for the speedy recovery of his father.

Mosharraf, the 76-year-old former minister, went to Singapore on June 27 for better treatment.

On June 18, he was admitted to Evercare Hospital in the capital after suffering a stroke. He received treatment there for eight days.

On the advice of Evercare Hospital doctors, the BNP leader went to Singapore National Hospital for treatment.
