Condolence message of the Acting Chairman of BNP Mr. Tarique Rahman

Renowned lawyer of the country, former attorney general, former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, member of BNP Chairperson's Advisory Council and his personal lawyer AJ Muhammad Ali passed away today at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore at 2:50 PM Bangladesh time. Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihe Rajiun. Acting Chairman of BNP Mr. Tarique Rahman has expressed deep grief and sorrow over his death.

In a condolence message today, the Acting Chairman of BNP said, "I am also deeply saddened by the death of AJ Muhammad Ali, a distinguished jurist of the country, like his grieving family. In the current crisis of the country, the death of a wise jurist like him will create a deep void in the legal field. He was a prominent figure in the legal profession. He was a source of inspiration to his fellow lawyers. This noble, modest and self-confident man was unflinching in his speech on the question of freedom of expression and democracy during the current crisis of the country. He never deviated from his integrity, principles and ideals. As a renowned lawyer, he provided legal assistance to pro-democracy activists including the BNP Chairperson. He has tirelessly fought for good governance and justice, ignoring the ruler's bloodshot eyes.

I seek forgiveness for the departed soul of AJ Muhammad Ali and express my deepest condolences to the bereaved family members, and well-wishers."
